step 1:

Pick your base

step 2:

Pick your bed setup

These common layouts act a great foundation to getting your floorplan started, with ballpark pricing.You will be able to change your floorplan to exactly how you envision at the next phase of design.

Elevator bed

This bed can be lifted by means of an automatic pulley or fold away murphy style.

who it's for

Outdoor gearheads (bikers, skiers, surfers): Frees up vertical storage for bikes, boards, etc.

People with lots of gear or mobile business setups: Room for drawers, storage bins, or work benches underneath.

Full-time vanlifers: Want the option to maximize living space when not sleeping.

Tall people or those who need a full-size mattress: You can often have a proper mattress since the bed doesn’t need to split into cushions.

Pros

Retains a full, comfy mattress.

Huge storage/work space underneath.

Cleaner setup — you’re not handling cushions every day.

More complex build (motors, gas struts, or pulley systems).

Requires more ceiling height.

fixed bed

This layout is very common in vans built for shorter wheelbases, outdoor sports or full-timers who live out of their rigs and need both storage and consistency.

Mountain bikers, skiers, surfers — anyone who needs to haul gear.

Full-time vanlifers or long-term travelers who want comfort and convenience without having to convert the bed daily.

Solo travelers or couples who don’t need a lot of indoor seating and prioritize storage and sleep. People with dogs or pets. The pets often sleep underneath or can use the garage space.

Pros

Massive garage underneath for bikes, skis, tools, water tanks, etc.

Always ready — no setup, no fuss.

Comfy, consistent sleep on a real mattress.

Keeps the “living” space separate from “storage.”

cons

Less flexible floor plan — you give up some interior hangout/dining/workspace.
Can feel tight if the van has a low roof.

Harder to seat more than 2 people inside comfortably.

Convertible bed

This bed converts to a dinette or lounge area upon demand.

Your bathroom setup can be either a full shower setup with sink and toilet, or a discreetly hidden toilet only, or only exterior shower.

Full Shower

Takes up significant interior space, limiting other design options.

pop-up shower

who it's for

Adventurers who prioritize maximizing living space or shorter wheelbases.
Those who want occasional showering capabilities without the commitment of a full shower. People who prefer a minimalist approach or who mostly shower at campgrounds or gyms.

Pros

Compact and space-saving when not in use.
Provides privacy when needed but disappears when not in use.
Lightweight and less costly than a full shower.

cons

Less luxurious than a full shower; more utilitarian.
Limited privacy compared to a fully enclosed shower.
Requires setup each time it is used.

Toilet only

Weekend warriors and short-trip travelers. Customers who prefer to use campground or gym facilities for showering. Those prioritizing simplicity, budget, and a streamlined layout.

No plumbing requirements
